“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for new and richer experience ”
— Eleanor Roosevelt
My name is Camilla and I am a visual story-teller. I love being my own boss, and for the past 9 years the camera has been my main creative outlet. As a self-taught photographer, I shoot in a simple, candid style that resonates with people who don't want a big traditional or stressful wedding day. I don't particularly love weddings, but I love photographing people, and wedding days, however small-scaled, are one of the most optimal occassions for observing and documenting real and honest human emotion and connection.
When I have people in front of my camera who I connect with, who inspire me, it is like magic. Those moments make me feel like this is what I was meant to do.
After years of splitting my life between my family and being "on the road" shooting weddings all over Denmark and in so far away places as Texas, France, and Norway, a period of stress and a following depression forced me to reconsider my goals and live more in tune with my values. Home means a great deal to me now, in every sense of the word. I do my best every day to be kind to others as well as to myself (the latter being harder to learn than you'd think). I find peace of mind and my "answers" to the tough questions in life by being in nature, both the grand overwhelming landscapes I see on my travels as well as the daily quiet beauty of my wild garden and the sea that surrounds us here on Aeroe island. I am a country girl at heart and a bit of a garden nerd, and I am deeply passionate about living a sustainable, intentional, chemical free life.
Besides documenting weddings, and shooting lifestyle images for small farms, makers and creatives, my other projects include turning our old farmhouse, where I live with my husband and two kids, into a lovely organic B&B, creating workshops and retreats, and hosting intimate weddings in our garden in collaboration with local wedding planner Danish Island Weddings.
